The Association for Journalism Education annual conference and AGM will be held at City University, London, on Thursday and Friday, 18-19 June 2009.

There will be papers presented on 18 and 19 June on these themes:
Developments in Teaching; The Student Experience; Practitioner-Academic Debates.

The programme includes, on Thursday 18 June: “A PROVOCATIVE EVENING WITH GUIDO FAWKES (PAUL STAINES)” and on Friday 19 June JON SNOW of Channel 4 News will speak on: THE FUTURE OF BROADCAST JOURNALISM.

Also on Friday 19 June:
•    JOSEPH ROWNTREE FOUNDATION PRESENTATION – REPORTING POVERTY
•    QUESTION TIME – THE FUTURE OF JOURNALISM EDUCATION, chaired by Chris Rushton (Head of Journalism and PR, University of Sunderland) and with a panel to include Jim Latham, (Broadcast Journalism Training Council); Jo Butcher (National Council for the Training of Journalists); Angie James (MA broadcast Journalism student); Professor Tim Luckhurst (Head of Journalism, University of Kent).

At 8.30 pm on the evening of Thursday 18 June there will be a social meal at a restaurant in Islington. See programme for details and venue. All those attending the conference and/or who are in the AJE are welcome. The social meal is not included in conference registration fee, see below – each diner pays for his/her own consumption! There is a limit on numbers for the restaurant meal.

There will be a registration charge of £15 per head, payable on the door on 18 June, for the conference proceedings on 18 and 19 June. This charge covers attendance at both days of the conference proceedings (including lunch on 19 June) but will also be the charge for those attending only one day.
 

The Association for Journalism Education represents 46 universities in the UK and Ireland, and has more than 350 journalism educators covered by that membership.
