Meet the Committee: Mick Temple (Chair)

Mick Temple is the elected Chair of the AJE. He trained as a political scientist and has published extensively on many areas of British politics, the media and political theory in academic journals, newspapers and magazines. His books include ‘The British Press’ (OUP, 2008), a biography of Tony Blair, ‘Blair’ (Haus, 2006) and ‘How Britain Works: From Ideology to Output Politics’ (Macmillan, 2000).

Mick has a weekly political column in his local paper, the Sentinel, and regularly comments on current affairs and elections for the BBC and other broadcasters.

He feels one of his main contributions to the AJE has been to encourage newcomers to journalism education to publish academically and hopes that the forthcoming launch of the AJE’s peer-reviewed journal, Journalism Education, will give journalism educators a new forum for research and comment on all aspects of journalism.
