For those interested in the joint project, co-ordinated by Winchester University, in which students at various institutions co-operated in covering the general election, the resource is now available at http://www.winol.co.uk
Chris Horrie of Winchester University explains: “It is the edited highlights of the eight continuous hours of live output done by students at Winchester, Buckingham, Kingston and a few other places. I think next time the AJE itself through its website might host a national event like this with local colleges supplying local reports and outside broadcasts.
“Significantly whilst Winchester is a BJTC place the reporters at the ‘south London hub’ were NCTJ postgrads (they supplied written reports all night, and one or two got on air as well).
“It was also a magazine type event because the non-linear edit used for the headline is more in the style of newspaper and magazine production than broacast production. So the output and the edit is interesting for all these reasons I would suggest.
“All feedback and suggestions for further co-operation would be gratefully received.”
